The Heinz-Kühn-Stiftung is a public foundation of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia which is exclusively and directly following non-profit purposes.
Founded in 1982, its aim is to support young journalists from North Rhine-Westphalia - as well as from abroad while in the federal state - in their formation and further training.
The government of North Rhine-Westphalia thereby emphasises how important it is for a democratic society to nurture its journalistic offspring.
The prime minister of North Rhine Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst, is the chairman of the board of trustees which decides upon the scholarships supporting the selected journalists.
