Scholarships for joung journalists

This scholarship is a blessing for all young journalists! May it continue for many years to come.

Here in Germany, we know almost nothing about what is happening in Guinea. Thanks to the Heinz Kühn Foundation, I had the opportunity to get to know the reality of life there, the country and its people, and to report on neglected issues.

These experiences have changed me as a woman, as a Latin American journalist and as a citizen of the world. I am infinitely grateful for everything I have learnt in Germany, from the German people and from so many people from all over the world.

The trip has given me insights that would have been impossible to gain from a distance. Thanks to the support of the Heinz Kühn Foundation, I was able to research social issues in all their complexity – an experience that has sharpened my understanding of global interconnections and brought about lasting changes to my journalistic practice.

I’d always wanted to become a journalist, but without a qualification in this field, I could hardly imagine being successful. Then the opportunity arose to apply for a scholarship from the Heinz Kühn Foundation, and that has made this dream and this challenge more within reach.
